Song Notes:
"Dusty & Awakening" is an instrumental written in the very early morning. It's a soundtrack piece and an experiment with technology making my voice sound like a differnt person. It's a duet with myself.
“Seven Stars Away” was written 14 years ago by my wife and I when we were newly dating. We were in a long-distant relationship for 3 years, seeing eachother every other week and feeling the distance. Seven states away or seven stars away. It did not matter. It was too far and I'm so happy we landed in each other's arms.
“Birds Singing” is an instrumental that features the birds that sing every morning outside of our bedroom window. My dad and mom's spirits visit our family as the birds. These lovely songs are my parents singing to me.
“A Letter To Mom” … This song is a co-write with a dear childhood friend Andy Figas. Andy lost his mom when we were in 7th grade. He came to school on that day and I sat in silence with him at lunch. Those moments had never left me. Chatting on a long car ride about life… in our 50's…. both being father's and our mutual experiences in the many years that had past…. I asked Andy to write a letter to his mom and send it to me. The words are beautiful and perfect and I love this song we wrote together about his love for his mother and daughter.
“Between Breaths” is a meditation piece. Simple.
“Alethiea (If You Disappear)” is a love song to Truth, the Universe or God. God is Truth. God is the daughter of a beauty that's exposed.
“Ultraviolet Heart” is a co-write with another childhood friend Tom Vize. He gifted me this beautiful mantra. I love this song.
“Exploring The Blue” is a cover song. Written by my hero and mentor Luka Bloom. It just fits with these songs.
“Ashes & Snow” is an instrumental. Calm, dark and simple.
“Finding LIght” is a a co-write with a childhood friend named Greg Berg. Greg and I started our first band together in his basment. Greg is a fantastic writer, but doesn't usually write poetry or lyrics. He has a podcast called “Finding Light”. I asked him to write a poem about this subject and we set it to my music. I love this song. It's the positive, upbeat piece on the record.
“I Saw Me In The Flame” is a movie soundtrack piece. I LOVE having a 10 minute song on a record…. Because who am I anyway to think that someone will listen to 10 minutes of me noodling.
“A Stone Is Rolling (Let It Go)" was written over 15 years ago. Sometimes songs take that long to feel ready to record and share. The original tracks were recorded so long ago… that I completely lost the name and email of the trumpeter who was a stranger I met on the internet and mailed the track to me. I'm still searching and will give him proper credit as soon as I know his name. Either way…. I love his part.
